Baires made its debut in the very select spot of Sina 21 and Skoufa Street in Kolonaki. It is what the owners like to call, “a coffee and bar extravaganza!” We certainly enjoyed ourselves in its fun atmosphere and surprisingly packed to capacity crowd that enjoyed the very loud modern pop hits that covered the present and past two decades. The owner is young and has made the best choice in his bar staff – because he wants them fast and fun, which is exactly what they are. There is only one bar and a few tables to allow as many people to fit in as possible at night. The décor falls under the definite category of “kitsch” (which are also parties that they like to have from time to time). Baires is what one would call a “gay friendly” spot that has a really good mix of late-twenties to early thirties group. Whether you go in the day for a coffee or at night for a drink, the bar stays open for the summer when it opens its balcony onto the busy sidewalk and allows for ample people watching any day of the week you may find yourself in Kolonaki.
