AIOLOU STREET

Like a more narrow extension of Patision Street toward the Acropolis, Aiolou starts from Panepistimiou Avenue and ends in the Roman Agora – in the heart of Plaka.

Basically, it is a commercial street and most of it is a pedestrian precinct. There is nothing you could not find to buy while you walk along this street. Combined with the stores of the side streets (Sofokleous, Evripidou, Ermou, Mitropoleos and Adrianou) they will tempt you with their fresh foods, beautiful fabrics and household items, clothes of every kind or souvenirs of the city.

With the recent traffic adjustments around Omonia Square, Aiolou street has at its beginning two lanes going the opposite way, as it is in Britain, to better serve traffic going toward Stadiou and Panepistimiou streets.

HOT SPOTS - What we propose

COFFEE GRINDERS LOUMIDIS

Offers fresh Greek coffee since 1920. If you are lover of coffee, the mere smell will convince you of its quality! (Aiolou 106).

KRINOS

Old patisserie of the city since 1923, meeting place for people of every age. Try doughnuts with walnuts and cream pies (Bougatsas). You will be licking your fingers! (Aiolou Street 87).

POP

The most Indie hangout in the city with sounds that you will hear nowhere else. A favorite haunt with fanatic friends in spite of its area of just a few square meters. (Klitiou 10b).
