Akadimias Street

Akadimias Street

The Akadimias Street starts just before Kaningos Square at 28th October Street (Patision) and ends in the western side of the Hellenic Parliament into Vasilissis Sofias Avenue.

The street takes its name from the Academy of Athens, one of the buildings of the Athenian Trilogy, located between Akadimias Street and the parallel Eleftherios Venizelos Street (Panepistimiou Street).

During the Second World War, the street was renamed in "Franklin Roosevelt Street", in honor of US President Franklin D. Roosevelt. A few years later, however, the old name "Akadimias" was used again.

In the center of Akadimias Street there are many bus terminals around Sina Street. It is also easy to access to the areas of Exarcheia and Kolonaki, from Akadimias Street. You can reach Filikis Eterias Square at Kolonaki directly through Kanari Street.
