What are the stores' operating hours?

Monday, Wednesday and Saturday: 09:00-15:00
Tuesday and Thursday: 09:00-14:00 and 17:00-21:00
Major Department Stores and Super Markets:
Monday-Friday: 09:00-21:00 and Saturday: 09:00-18:00
Sundays and Holidays: Closed.



Is there a shopping street in Athens?

One of the most exciting starts right at Syntagma Square. Ermou Street is considered the main commercial shopping street of Athens. Other shopping streets in the center are Aiolou Street and Panepistimiou Street. In the Kolonaki district you can stroll along Patriarchou Ioakeim.


Which are the best Department Stores / Malls in Athens?

Can I use my credit cards to shop?

Yes. International credit cards are accepted at most restaurants and shops throuhout Athens. Ask first about American Express and Diners.


Can I buy antiques and take them home with me?

Yes, but make sure to have the receipt and the certificate that the store must issue in your name.


Can I buy old icons and take them home with me?

It depends on the icons. The same rules apply as above for antiques.


Can I shop Tax Free?

Yes. Before you pay for your item, ask the store to provide you with a signed form VAT (Value Added Tax) and attach your receipt to it.
