METAMORFOSI TOU SOTIROS
(The Transfiguration of the Savior)
A church of the 11th - 12th Century A.D., in registered cruciform style with a characteristically high dome, it was built with the brick-enclosed system, that is chiseled stones surrounded by thin bricks and thick wall plaster.
It is said, that Odysseas Androutsos is buried near the church.
He was imprisoned by Gouras in Acropolis during the War of Independence of 1921 (2nd Civil War) and was found dead at the foot of the Sacred Rock in 1825.

HOW TO GET THERE
BY FOOT: From Monastiraki Square, follow Ermou Street towards Syntagma and turn right onto Aiolou Street. After 200 meters turn left onto Dyogenous Street and the next right. In 200 meters you find find the Church of Metamorfosis tou Sotiros.
