THE METRO NETWORK

Today, the Attiko Metro consists not only of the previously existing Line 1 (Piraeus - Kifisia), but also of two more lines: Line 2 (Ag. Antonios – Ag. Dimitrios / Al. Panagoulis) and Line 3 (Egaleo – Doukissis Plakentias). They serve a total of 965 passengers daily, twice the number served in the past. Line 3 also runs the route Egaleo – El. Venizelos Airport, with the trains departing every 30 minutes during every day of the week.

The most recent section of the Metro was Monastiraki – Egaleo of Line 3, which was opened to the public in May of 2007. The trains arrive at the stations every 3 to 4 minutes during rush hours and every 6 to 19 minutes the remaining hours.

The two new lines, 2 and 3, connect with the previously existing line of I.S.A.P (Line 1). at the stations “Omonia”, “Attiki” and “Monastiraki”, and they cross each other at the “Syntagma” Station.
