TRAVEL IN TIME - ACROPOLIS TOUR

Brief description:
Taking a sunlit morning hike along this course, every Metro stop going up to Acropolis hill carries the scent of history… or simply, one of the most relaxing strolls in the city center.

Starting point:
Thisio Metro Station

Ending point:
Acropolis Metro Station

Approach distance:
1.500 m

Ideal time:
Sunday morning.

--------------------

Course:
This walk is simple. Once you get out of Thisio Metro Station, the only thing you have to do is turn right and go up the recently side walked street of Apostolou Paulou. At the first crossing – where you will meet with the triple junction of Irakleidon, Nileos and Akamantos, it is a very popular area for Athenians to have their coffee.

Continuing, just before reaching the top, Apostolou Paulou Street changes its name to Dionysiou Areopagitou, which leads you initially to the Acropolis and then downhill to the Acropolis Metro Station (close to Makrygianni Street).

When you find yourself on the highest peak of this walk, you will be in front of the entrance to the general archaeological site of the Acropolis, where you can enter for free up to a certain point. There you can pay to enter the Acropolis to see the Parthenon, the Erechtheion and visit the Acropolis Museum. If it is worth it or not need not be commented on.
