VASILISSIS SOFIAS AVENUE
Travel by car or any other vehicle in Athens and you will find it difficult to find another street with such beauty and classical glamour.
This is more evident especially during the night. Driving through the elegantly lit Vasilissis Sofias avenue is worth videotaping and saving it in the in memorial video archives.
Literally planted with neoclassical buildings, embassies, museums and ministries, Vasilissis Sofias – a heroic act to walk its entire length – runs from the Parliament to Ampelokipoi, at the intersection of Alexandras Avenue and Kifisias.
On the way one passes by the National Art Gallery, the Hilton Hotel and the Music Palace.
Some of its sections are full of night clubs for young people, for example Mavili Square.

This popular meeting spot has been around for decades, attracting many young people from far and near to the few funky bars that offer drinks in hand to take out to the square. A good spot to see people during the summer months, the small square is also the home to one of the most popular hot dog stands in town.
