Sightseeing on Patision Street (28th October Street)

The 28th October Street (or Patission Street) which starts at Omonoia Square stretches over four km across several districts and ends at the metro station "Ano Patissia”. The boulevard leads past the National Technical University, which became famous for the bloody events of the 1973 uprisings.

Also on this street is the National Archaeological Museum of Greece, with the largest ancient Greek collection in the world. At the intersection with Alexandras Avenue you can find the Pedion tou Areos, one of the largest green zones in Athens.

Take a look at many imposing neoclassical buildings located on Patision Street. And this does not only mean the Polytecnic University or the National Archaeological Museum. But also a lot of urban villas and residential buildings. To give just one example, the building at number 61, is where Maria Callas lived from 1937 to 1945. Maria Callas was a top soprano and internationally known performer of opera and lyric theater.
