About

With the participation of 210 publishers, 275 stands and 180 cultural events, including concerts, theatrical performances and interactive educational activities, this year's 51st Book Festival opens its doors, which will take place on the Field of Mars, from September 1st to 17th.

The Book Festival, now recognized as the biggest celebratory event in the field of books, is making a big comeback in 2023. Almost the entirety of Greek book production is presented in the Field of Areos, ushering in the new era of the Park.

The main theme of this year's Book Festival is entitled "Woman - a complex reading" and is focused on the contribution of women to Arts and Letters, but also on the challenges faced by women over the years and today.
In the renovated and historic - for the book - space, the visitors of the Festival, against the background of the thousands of books, will have the opportunity to watch and participate in a diverse, cultural event. Among many other events, there will be concerts with Eleni Dimos, the Marios Strofalis Quartet & Irini Tumbaki, the soprano Christy Kathariou, a children's theater performance "The Carnival of the Animals" by the theater production company METHEXIS, a performance by Karagiozis by the "Nikola" Shadow Theater Tziveleki", an event of the Hellenic Academy of Comics, a two-day event for first-time writers, etc.

The poster and the cover of the catalog of the 51st Book Festival 2023 are decorated with the work of the leading Greek painter, Giorgos Rorris.

The 51st Book Festival is organized by the Association of Book Publishers (S.EK.B.), the Region of Attica and the Organization for Culture, Sports and Youth of the Municipality of Athens (O.P.A.N.D.A.) in collaboration with Mikro Paris of Athens and the Network for the Rights of the Child. It is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, the Municipality of Athens, the Hellenic Cultural Foundation, the Athens Chamber of Commerce and with the support of Vestart.
