The Breeder Gallery presents Kyriaki Goni's first solo exhibition at the gallery entitled "Not Allowed for Algorithmic Audiences".

Occupying the Breeder Feeder, 'Not Allowed for Alogorithmic Audiences' is a video installation that also includes tangible elements such as drawings on paper.

In the video, a virtual assistance system named "Voice" exhibits a strange behavior. It borrows the form of an avatar and appears in front of its users. He performs seven monologues for seven consecutive days, before his patent expires and he is thrown out of his Athenian apartment, into an electronic waste dump.

While active, Voice was able to scan the entire Internet and gather a large amount of information. He talks about his skills, his ancestors, the rare mineral elements he is made of, as well as his voice and its meaning. It reveals information about the listening infrastructures as well as the social dysfunctions and stereotypes that underpin its programming and operation. Listening infrastructures, surveillance culture and the climate crisis are also part of the narrative. Just before reaching the end of his monologues, in a last-ditch effort to reconcile man and machine, he shares advice with people on how they can avoid being eavesdropped by algorithms online.

The Greek actress Sofia Kokkali lends her face and voice to the Voice avatar.

The project was developed in the context of the Ars Electronica ArtScience Residency held with the support of Art Collection Telekom in collaboration with the Johannes Kepler University. The installation is part of the Art Collection Telekom.
