About

The periodic exhibition "Falirothen. Between two worlds" includes some of the most important findings from the SNFCC rescue excavation in the Faliro Delta.

The need to present to the public an overall picture of the find contributed to the rationale of this small periodic exhibition. During the almost ten-year rescue excavation of the cemetery, the Ephorate of Piraeus and Islands made a systematic effort to inform the scientific community as well as the public with lectures, announcements, articles and university seminars.Although the media has since focused on the find of "brutal deaths", the exhibition, on the contrary, wishes to highlight the real significance of a coastal cemetery extended in space and time, which offers images and data of the Athenian society of the archaic, according years, as a reflection of the pulsating life of the city in whose workshop the ideas that led to political developments and finally to the Republic were forged.

The report is divided into 4 meaningful sections:
The two sections, with the main focus on Attic burial customs during the early and late archaic period, focus on the objects that accompanied the deceased, but also on those that formed part of the ritual for his care on the last journey. The purpose of the narrative is to illuminate different aspects of Athenian society through funerary traditions and practices.

One section is dedicated to Proto-Attic pottery with the aim of presenting some of the most important vases of the period, many of them from well-known Attic workshops.

Finally, in the fourth section, three of the burials that have been examined from the point of view of bioarchaeology are selected.

This study presents the identity of the people who have been buried and can tell details of their life story.
