The Municipality of Athens, in the context of the great Athens City Festival, presents the retrospective exhibition of the engraver Nikos Desekopoulos in the Art Gallery of the Municipality of Athens (Building A: Germanikou & Millerou, Avdi Square, Metaxourgeio).

The exhibition "Engraving - Painting. Retrospective" is organized by the Organization for Culture, Sports and Youth of the Municipality of Athens (OPANDA) and includes works created from 1974 until today.

His visual work, the fruit of reflections, personal moments and experiences, includes the sections: Aegean Architecture, Travel, History of a Chair, The Greek Cafe, Neoclassical, Boats, Trees-plants, Electricity, Human form, Micro-engravings – ex libris – book illustration . Each section includes 5 - 10 works, which are created in different periods of time, drawings and engravings, designed, engraved and printed by the same engraver.

In Desekopoulos's engraving work, the precision of the design, the decisive gesture of the engraving with the game of improvisation, is what is wanted.
He skillfully transforms the blank wood, while the sun plays a key role in his works, symbolizing the light or the "eye" of the observer or even God. He supports traditional engraving techniques and prints his woodcuts by hand.
