Athens Car Rentals

Athens Car Rentals

In a European capital that is so far from the center of the continent, it is logical that the main percentage of its visitors will not come by car, as is more easily done with other countries. That, in combination of the fact that Greece has a lot to offer to its guest inside and outside of Athens makes the need to rent a vehicle all the more imperative.

Nearly all of the major international car rental companies have offices in Athens as do an even greater number of Greek companies. Prices average around the same range as the rest of the European countries and change according to certain periods like winter, spring, High (July, August and September) and Low (October).

Five rental car companies also work through the International Airport of Athens, and can be found in the Arrivals Level of the airport. The pick up – drop off points are found on the North side of the building and can be reached by foot as they are not too far away from the main building.

To rent a car, you must be at least 21 years old (age may vary by car category) and have held your license for 1 year. Non-EU residents need to obtain an International Drivers License in order to drive, do not forget to apply for these papers on time. Many car rental companies have a maximum age for car rental in addition to a minimum age: 70-75 years (depending the car rental company).
