Description

Every year, on the 23rd of August, there is a celebration where pilgrims from all over the world come to this monastery to worship the Madonna Faneromeni in Salamina Island. It was built in the 17th century on the site where an old icon have been found. The Monastery of Panagia Faneromeni served as a hospital for injured officers of the Greek army during the Greek Revolution in 1821.
