Aegean Sailing Rally

Aegean Sailing Rally

The Aegean Sailing Rally is an institution that has been operating in Greece since 1964. The event is held under the auspices of the Pan-Hellenic Offshore Sailing Club, making it the oldest and most brilliant event in the Greek sailing circle. This is why it has been described as the "Maritime Marathon".

In its initial steps, the occasion was purely about racing. However, over the years, due to excellent organization and the great participation of Greek and foreign vessels, the event evolved into a wide-scale celebration that is inextricably linked to the Aegean islands and the naval tradition of Greece. The Hellenic Navy has also been very helpful in shifting the rally towards this direction. For example, the availability of the Historic Battleship Averof for various appearances.

The start of the race takes place at the Faliro Bay, where the sailboats cover a distance of 350-500 nautical miles, with intermediate stops at beautiful Aegean islands. Perfect weather conditions tend to prevail in July in the Aegean region and also contribute to the impeccable organization of the event.

There are regular local winds that range from 20 to 30 knots in intensity, temperatures up to 30 degrees, and a wonderful sun that bathes the blue waters. The natural beauties of the islands with the special color and hospitality of the residents contribute to the success of the race, offering moments of relaxation and tranquility.

The Aegean Sailing Rally is not only a major sporting event but also a fest during the summer that enables all those who want to join - Greeks and foreigners - a wonderful nautical event under the Greek sky.
