Athens Segway Tours

The Segway provides an excellent alternative approach for exploring the city of Athens that combines historical information with an easy and pleasant ride on these fun and eco-friendly vehicles.

The Segway is a 2-wheeled, electric, self-balancing personal transporter that runs at a maximum speed of 20.1 km/h. It is powered by a lithium battery and can cover 39 km when fully charged battery.

The rider commands the vehicle by shifting their weight forward or backward to move either way and by shifting the handlebar left or right to turn accordingly. Segway transporters are designed to run in any climate, although traveling in heavy rain may not be all that enjoyable. Fear not, the weather in Athens is rarely rainy for long periods of time. One of the advantages of the Segway is that it is one of the best ways to cover ground in the heat while retaining insights on the archaeological sights of Athens. This is done for the duration of 2 hours while professional and experienced guides are provided. This is a great introduction to the city for first-time visitors or for those with limited time available.

Participants on Segway tours are obliged to sign a liability waiver and wear closed-toe flat shoes (no high heels or sandals). Persons of at least 12 years of age can participate on a tour but must be accompanied by an adult who is 18 years or older. There is a weight limitation of 46 to 113 kilos, and the rider must be able to stand on the Segway for at least 1 hour. These tours are not recommended for pregnant women.

What is usually included in an organized group is a guide, helmet and a safety briefing which is an orientation with the transporter. Entrance fees to the archaeological sites are not included in these prices and please bear in mind that the vehicles are not allowed into the archaeological sites.
