Athens Technopolis Festival
Alongside the music, many different events take place with-in the same venue. Each summer the "Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival" seeks, finds and presents to the Greek public the global developments in the area of jazz music. It is one of the major cultural events of Athens and takes place annually at the beginning of the summer on the grounds of the Technopolis in Gazi.
From classic jazz and funk to jazz with lyrics and vocals and Afro pop, the festival, for 4 consecutive days, attracts an audience as diverse as the many styles of jazz music it presents.
It was with the collaboration of all the embassies and the cultural institutes of the member-countries of the European Union, that the Technopolis venue organizes the European Jazz Festival since the year 2000. After broadening their horizons, the musical event was renamed into the "Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival". It has and always will be a widespread belief that this celebration should not be repeated solely for commercial purposes, but mainly to share the love and passion of jazz music.
Therefore, each year with the utilization of local resources along with the aid of sponsors, the event is carried out consistently and with free admission for everybody. It is estimated that more than 4,000 people per day attend the event each year.
