Climbing in Athens

Athens is a great place to visit to climb for a few days as part of your holiday as there are over 30 crags within an hour’s drive. There are around 2,000 sport climbing routes on the Parnitha, Penteli and Ymmitos mountains with the variation of limestone and marble quarries but also tufa caves and seaside crags.

All of the locations offer a different experience, with various ranges of difficulty for enthusiasts of any level. Climbing in Athens is possible all year round even during the hot summer months, as there are several north-facing rocks, sheltered from the summer sun.

Moreover, there are great varieties and styles at indoor climbing gyms - so no matter the age or physical condition, climbing is a sport that provides health and strength in a fun and adventurous way.
