Evia, the second largest island of Greece, is located on northeast area of the country. It is known for its lovely landscapes, historic sites and great beaches.

The island's name derived from Evia, daughter of river Asopus or by an ancient word that means "rich in cattle" and indicates the island's rich nature. Evia has been inhabited since pre historic times and Chalkida, the capital, was one of the first towns in Evia and is referred to by Homer.
