Hera

Hera

Raised by the Titans Oceanus and Tethys, Hera was Zeus's wife. Her role as the supreme Goddess was to be the one that protects marriage, childbirth and especially married women.

The ancient city of Argos is the sacred city of Goddess Hera. The sacred animals that she was connected with were the cow and the peacock.

Zeus deliberately hunted down Hera after being in relationships with a lot of women. The myth says that the 2 were married after Zeus raped Hera. More specifically, he took the form of a disheveled cuckoo; Hera, feeling sorry for the bird, held it to her breast to keep it warm.

Zeus then resumed his regular form and took advantage of her surprise. To cover her shame, she eventually married him. The result of that was their famous, turbulent relationship and their violent clashes.
