History of the Olympic Games

The Olympic Games belong to the world's largest sporting event. Every 4 years they are hosted in different cities of the world and reach over a billion viewers. They are organized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The Olympic Games, in the ancient times, were named after the games that took place in Olympia (Peloponnese) in honor of Zeus during the Olympic Festival. It was the most important and prestigious of the four Pan-Hellenic Games.
