Monastery of Agios Nektarios
Near Palaiochora, on the road to Souvala, lies the impressive Monastery of Saint Nektarios, one of the largest monasteries in the Balkans.
Agios Nektarios is also one of the most important religious monuments of the Greek Orthodox Church. The Monastery was built in the 20th Century A.D., by the Bishop of Pentapolis Nektarios between 1904 and 1910, on the site of a small Byzantine monastery.
