Nea Smyrni Square

The Nea Smyrni central square is one of the most recognized geographical spots in the area. It is one on the biggest squares in the entire country. The Nea Smyrni Square's area is 20 acres along with the round pavement.

It is a place of recreation and walks, while around it one can find the commercial and administrative center of Nea Smyrni. There are artistic and cultural events, such as concerts, book exhibitions, festivals - of May 1st and the Ionian celebration - political concentrations and celebrations of athletic successes.

The Nea Smyrni Square is placed on the center of the urban planning of the city. On the North East side, it is bordered by Eleftherios Venizelos Avenue, which is the central drive of Nea Smyrni axis and from the tram line.

The Athens Tram connects the square and the rest of the city, with Athens, Piraeus and southern suburbs, Paleo Faliro, Elliniko, Glyfada, and Voula. From Eleftherios Venizelos Avenue, there are busses to Kallithea, Moschato, Daphne, Aghios Dimitrios, Ymittos, Vyronas, Ilioupoli.

 

On the North West side of the square, one can find 25th March Street, a pedestrian street that hinges with Karylou Square - connecting with the  big recreation park of Nea Smyrni. Underneath that area there is an underground parking lot. To the South West there is Eirinis pedestrian Street,  while in a certain distance one can find a place called "Estia Neas Smyrnis", a place built from Smyrni immigrants (Asia Minor) in 1930.
