Since then, in 2012 it handled 8.633.907 tonnes of cargo and, 3.163.755 TEU's (Twenty-foot equivalent unit) in 2013, making it the busiest cargo port in Greece and the largest container port in the country and the East Mediterranean Sea Basin.

CEΟ and Captain, Fu Cheng Qiu, has stated that the, "Piraeus Container Terminal is being converted into the first large scale state-of-the-art modern container terminal in Greece. It will be a challenging but achievable task to win the confidence of the customers to bring the container throughput to the peak volumes of 3.7m TEU's."
