Shopping in the Historic Districts of Athens
The historical districts in Athens are tourist magnets. Here, thousands of visitors swarm through the alleys of Monastiraki and Plaka. The target group determines the offer. Mainly, you will find souvenirs of all kinds in small shops, which are lined up one after the other.
The quality of the products can vary. Thus, in the front part of the entrance area you will usually find the cheapest products (as a lure), while the higher quality products are placed in the back part of the shop. However, this does not mean that one cannot make good purchases in the old town.
In the Plaka, for example, there are some excellent jewelers or art galleries with a unique assortment. There are also excellent goods in Monastiraki with a reasonable price-quality ratio. To find them, look for the country of production and prefer products bearing the label "Made in Greece".
