Sightseeing on Ermou Street

Sightseeing on Ermou Street

Ermou Street extends for almost two km and is very diverse. It is considered the most important shopping street in Athens. The first part extends from Syntagma Square to Monastiraki Square. On this section you will find many famous brands and shops, mainly from the fashion sector.

The Kapnikareas Square, with its famous church, invites you to take a break. From here it is only a stone's throw to the neighboring Plaka and Monastiraki districts. From Aiolou Street there is no longer a pedestrian zone and the character of the shops to both left and right changes a lot. Here you will find mainly antiques shops, second-hand shops, and a many gastronomic offerings and boutique hotels.

At Agion Asomaton Square, Ermou Street takes a small bend and becomes again a wide pedestrian zone, but without shops. At the end of Ermou Street you will find the ancient cemetery of Kerameikos with the Archaeological Museum of Kerameikos.
