Sightseeing on Mitropoleos Square

The church on the Mitropoleos Square is considered the most important church in Athens and Greece and is the seat of the Orthodox Archbishop. Alongside it is the Panagia Gorgoepikoos Church, also called the small Mitropolis a small Byzantine church from the 13th century with numerous antique items.

Mitropoleos Square is a perfect starting point for a walk around the Acropolis rock. Decide if you want to take the tour right to Monastiraki and Thissio or left to Plaka.
