During the summer months, a visitor to Athens can hardly resist the lure of the numerous beaches near the city. On the west coast of Attica, there are many top, organized locations, such as Akti tou Iliou, Asteras Vouliagmenis Beach or Varkiza Beach.
On the east coast you can go to Schinias Beach, which is very busy, especially at weekends. But specially on this coastline there are also several natural beaches.
Whether east coast or west coast, in Lake Vouliagmenis or in one of the city's numerous hotel pools, one thing is for sure: The Attic sun spoils Athens with more than 2,800 hours of sunshine on 348 sunny days a year.
