Intercity Buses (KTEL)

Intercity Buses (KTEL)

The Κ.Τ.Ε.L. (def. "Buses United Proceeds Fund") was created in the 1950ʼs to coordinate the running of urban and intercity transportation and since 1978, when O.A.S.A. was created for urban travel; it serves only the intercity routes.

Every prefecture in Greece has its own Κ.Τ.Ε.L. Athens has four bus terminals, two of which serve the regional bus line and two of which serve the suburban bus lines.

The Attica Κ.Τ.Ε.L.'s are located on Mavrommataion Street 29 & Eleftherias Square (next to the Pedion tou Areos) for the eastern Attica destinations and in Thissio (Agion Asomaton Square) for the western destinations.

The two Intercity Bus Stations, are found on Liosion Street 260 in Kato Patissia for Central Greece (Thessaly and Central Greece), and the larger one on Kifissou Avenue 100 in Kifissos - that serves the rest of the country. Both stations appear to be from some black and white period, Greek film, but at least they are in good operational state.
