Marinas of Athens

Marinas of Athens

There are 9 of a total 21 marinas operating in Attica nowadays, offering 4900 mooring places. Some of these docks are very modern, while others need improvements in order to offer services of a higher level. Furthermore, there are marinas under construction in various areas of the country.

One of the bigger ones is the Zea Marina in Piraeus, which is a pole of attraction for many Greek and foreign boat companies that use it as terminal for their launches to the Greek islands. In very close distance to the beautiful islands of the Saronic Gulf and the Aegean Sea, the marina receives thousands of vessels every year ranging from small private yachts to even huge cruise ships from all over the world.

Without a doubt, a modern marina is that of Marina Faliro, which was completed in 2004 and serves yachts and pleasure crafts. Its harbor's substructure has great depths near the piers that vary between five and six meters, a fact that favors the reception of vessels with particular specifications. The marina uses one of the most modern systems of collection and management of the moored vessels' wastes.

Services if high specifications are offered by the marinas of Vouliagmeni, Sounio and Flisvos. One of the most ambitious projects regarding maritime tourism was the Marina of Agios Kosmas, which hosted the commencement of the sailing races during the Olympic Games of 2004. The Olympic installation of Agios Kosmas has a total area of 425,000 m² and buildings of 8,945.50 m². The marina of Agios Kosmas - with a capacity of 1170 vessels - consists of a group of modern installations with the capability to host numerous shows of diverse interest.
