Metamorfosi tou Sotiros Church
The church "Metamorfosi tou Sotiros" (The Transfiguration of the Savior) is located in Plaka. A church of the 11th - 12th Century A.D., in registered cruciform style with a characteristically high dome, it was built with the brick-enclosed system, that is chiseled stones surrounded by thin bricks and thick wall plaster.
It is said, that Odysseas Androutsos is buried near the church. He was imprisoned by Gourds in Acropolis during the War of Independence of 1821 and was found dead at the foot of the Sacred Rock in 1825.
