Grigonis welcomed to Athens
Marius Grigonis has been in Greece for a few days now, in order to be integrated into the preparation of Panathinaikos, in view of the new season.
The Lithuanian guard is suffering from a slight injury (sprain) on his right ankle from the match against Spain in Eurobasket 2022, but as he stated, it is nothing serious and he will soon be able to train .
It is worth noting that the conclusion of the case was quite complicated, but Panathinaikos' excellent relations with CSKA Moscow paved the way for his acquisition.
The 27-year-old ace agreed with the Russian team, with which a legal dispute had arisen over the money provided for in his contract for the 2021-22 season (he had left after the Russian invasion of Ukraine) and was bound by a contract for this year's competition as well period, while the "clover" paid the buy out, in order to terminate the agreement between Grigonis and CSKA.
"I feel really good! I've had in mind that I will come to Athens for about two months and I'm excited", he emphasized in his first statements on Greek soil to the camera of paobc.gr and continued referring to the Lithuanians who have competed in Panathinaikos:
"I hope to continue the tradition! I hope I live up to the expectations because those players were very good, especially Saras, Siskauskas, Masioulis... It wasn't the same for Jaftokas, but they were all good players."
As for the goals he wants to fulfill with Panathinaikos, he noted:
"It's difficult to talk about goals, I always prefer to promise less and bring better results! I can guarantee that we will fight and that we will try to win every game."
Finally, he sent his own message to the world of the team:
“I know that the fans of the team are passionate and have a lot of energy, personally I want to bring that to the court. Let's all do it together!"
