The Tower of Piraeus was lit up for another year, a few days before Christmas, with the aim of conveying joy, hope and optimism, participating in this way in the festive events of the Municipality of Piraeus, "Christmas in Piraeus, celebrations in the neighborhoods" .

At a time when energy is a sensitive issue, the Piraeus Tower shone again, aiming to give optimism while remaining an example of sustainability. This year, with absolute respect for this difficult situation we are experiencing globally, special care was taken to significantly reduce consumption.

With soft color changes, the Piraeus Tower will stand as the jewel of the port, while 1300 strobe lights will sparkle throughout its area, from December 13th to January 8th.

The bright spots mark and dedicate themselves to the people who have contributed in every way to the project, like the bright elements that, with their talent and professionalism, help bring it back to life.

The Mayor of Piraeus, Yiannis Moralis, and the Managing Director of Piraeus Tower and DIMAND, Dimitris Andriopoulos, illuminated the landmark building on the evening of Tuesday, December 13, in a modest event that took place in the port. Also present were Mrs. Andreea Moraru from the EBRD and Mrs. Teresa Messari from PRODEA Investments. The event was presented by the journalist, Ms. Baya Antonopoulou.

The Mayor of Piraeus, Mr. Yiannis Moralis, in his greeting emphasized, among other things: "The Tower of Piraeus, the building - a symbol of the recent history of our city, was illuminated in a unique spectacle, transmitting the glow and magic of the holidays to Piraeus. The Tower is changing day by day, as work on the second tallest building in our country continues at an intensive pace. Pyrgos is being reborn and I believe that all Piraeus admire it, are happy about it and I feel particularly proud of it. Our goal as a Municipal Authority is to highlight the comparative advantages of Piraeus and the Tower, this special landmark of our city, marks the progress that Piraeus has made in the last 8.5 years. Our city has gained special momentum and has now moved into a new era, the era of extroversion, the era of development with planning, hard work, but above all with vision and it is certain that its future is bright. I would like to thank Mr. Andriopoulos, Ms. Moraru and Ms. Messari, the representatives of Dimand, PRODEA Investments and the EBRD for this impressive illumination, as well as for our broader excellent cooperation."

The CEO of PIRAEUS TOWER and DIMAND, Mr. Dimitris Andriopoulos, said: "This is the third year, this year, that we are doing this event, and I want to remind you that the construction period started exactly two years ago, with a completion horizon of approx. or less 12 months from now. We believe that the Piraeus Tower will be an achievement for the city and will mark a new era for other projects planned by the Municipality. Piraeus has already begun to take its rightful place in metropolitan Athens and the basin. Being particularly aware of the issue of energy, we were wondering if we should, in this juncture, re-illuminate our work. In the end, in the least energy-consuming way ever, we decided to move forward, since the Tower does not light up just one building, it lights up the hearts and mood of all Piraeus, who every year ask us to leave its lights on as much as possible."

From the EBRD's side, the Director and head for Greece and Cyprus, Ms. Andreea Moraru, added: "The Tower of Piraeus is identified with the recent history of the city and therefore, through the project we expect to create a landmark of rebirth of the city based on sustainability features and centered on society. The building that today is lit up to fill us with pleasant feelings ahead of the holidays, we hope that it will see the same glow in the future expressed through the satisfaction of its users and the wider local community."

Finally, the CFO/COO of PRODEA Investments, Mrs. Teresa Messari, said: "This year's illumination of the Tower of Piraeus gives us the opportunity to "illuminate" the progress of one of the most emblematic projects currently being developed, not only in Attica , but also throughout the country, of the tallest bioclimatic building that will soon be a distinct landmark of Piraeus, full of life, upgrading the wider area".

Lighting and energy saving

The decoration of the Tower consists exclusively of light fixtures of diffused lighting LED technology, so that reduced power consumption is achieved. In particular, this year's consumptions will range up to 38.20 kW. In addition, the period of time that the work will remain illuminated has been limited.
