Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou attended the formal changing of the guard weekly ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Syntagma Square on Sunday, prior to attending a musical performance at the Presidential Mansion gardens.

The Tomb is guarded on a 24-hour basis by the presidential guard of Evzones, who rotate every hour. A formal ceremony to change the guard is held every Sunday morning at 11:00.

Sakellaropoulou chatted with bystanders and observed the ceremony from the left-hand side of the Monument plaza below the Parliament building.

The Greek president then paid an informal visit at a Christmas carol concert by the Hellenic Navy Band in the Presidential Mansion gardens, which are open to the public on Sundays free of charge. She chatted and posed for photos with visitors, who were also treated to Christmas sweets.
