The Jazz Chronicles continue in 2023 to invite and challenge musical exploration, focusing on jazz as "the music of now", with three new concerts starting from different regions of the modern jazz geography to meet at the KPSN Lighthouse.

On Sunday February 5th, at 21.00 Martha Mavroidi returns to the SNFCC to introduce us to her new quartet, 5 albums and 14 years after her debut, which caused a sensation in Greece and abroad with its special mix of folk and jazz elements.

With the release of her first album, The Garden of Rila (2009), she was called a "rising star of Balkan music". Following her career, she traveled to Greece, Europe and the USA, collaborated with names such as Savvina Giannatou and Eliza Carthy, while also directing the traditional choir "Pomegranate".

In the new composition of her quartet, she collaborates with 3 other musicians who come from the wider field of improvisational music, together with whom she composes a special sound that combines the aroma of the Balkans and the Middle East with the exotic elements of the Eastern Mediterranean and jazz harmonies.

Somewhere between East and West, traditional and modern music, the piano, the double bass, the drums, the electric lute and the voice of Mavroida constitute a special, unique proposal without geographical barriers and sonic influences

The quartet consists of Yiannis Papadopoulos (piano), Giorgos Ventouris (double bass), Dimitris Klonis (drums) and Martha Mavroide (voice and electric lute).
