Rains and storms in much of the country
The reason for this change in weather is the southeasterly movement of an atmospheric disturbance in the middle troposphere from the Northwest Balkans towards our country.
In more detail, the following are expected:
- Rains and local storms in the mainland and in the Central and Northern Aegean
- Hailfalls of small size
- Drop in temperature mainly in terms of maximums up to five degrees
- Gradual shift of winds from southwest to northwest general directions with gradual strengthening up to six Beaufort in the seas.
According to the classification of the precipitation episode (RPI), which is implemented by the Meteo unit of the National Observatory of Athens, the precipitation episode is classified as Category 2 (Moderate).
The phenomena are expected to weaken until the evening hours in most areas except Eastern Macedonia, Thrace and the islands of the Eastern Aegean where they are expected to persist. Concentrations of Saharan dust will be increased in the south.
In Attica, clouds are initially expected with a small chance of light local rains and after noon local rains and possible storms mainly in the north of the prefecture. The effects are expected to weaken until the evening hours.
Winds will initially blow from southwest/west directions with intensities up to two-three Beauforts and from midday hours from west/northwest directions with intensities up to four-five Beauforts.
The temperature will range from 15 to 23 degrees, in the north and west it will be two to three degrees lower.
Rain and possible storms are expected in Thessaloniki. The phenomena are expected to weaken gradually after the afternoon hours.
The winds will blow from northwesterly directions with intensities up to three-four Beaufort.
The temperature will range from 13 to 20 degrees.
