Renowned Actress Nonika Galinea passes

A last of a generation that represented an urban, central theater, with a specific repertoire and troupe pairings in an Athens modeled after the works staged on the English and French stages, a theater that wanted to imitate the cosmopolitanism of the great European cities.

She herself was an aristocrat, the daughter of Petros Galineas and Doret Karaiosifoglou, and her involvement in the theater was unusual for children of her social and economic class.

He was born in 1938, finished primary school in Greece and high school in Florence. He attended the Châtelard English School in Switzerland and at the age of eighteen enrolled at Densons Secretarial College in London. He then studied at the Webber Douglas School of Singing and Dramatic Art.

She married Nikos Moutousi, a neurologist, in Greece and they lived for five years in Paris, where they had three children, the twins Alexia and Arietta and Amalia Moutousi. Two of her three daughters pursued theater careers.

Galinea had received the "Kyveli" award in 2006 for her services to Greek theater.

She was the first Greek actress who performed in English at Covent Garden in London and the only actress to play the lead role 6 times in plays performed at the Athens Concert Hall 'Megaron'.
