Poseidonos Avenue

Poseidonos Avenue

Paraliaki (Coastal road), is how Athenians call the major avenue across the coastline - seldom with its proper name - especially when it is summertime and many head to the bars / clubs / all-nighters of "Paraliaki".

Poseidonos Avenue (Poseidon's) begins in front of the Peace and Friendship Stadium, on the borders Moschato and crossing Kallithea, Palaio Faliro, Alimos, Elliniko and Glyfada, continues changing its name to Alkyonidon Avenue, and continues toward the areas of Voula, Vouliagmeni and Varkiza.

With three or more lanes in each direction, it is highly accommodating, but sometimes it gets jammed. This happens more often during the nights of summer months, when it becomes one of the epicenters of the Athenian nighttime Entertainment.

To get around on the long (about 25 km) Poseidonos Avenue there is a very good alternative - the Athens Tram. The tram runs the entire Poseidonos Avenue to Voula. The beautiful line is right on the coast.
