THE NATIONAL TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

FOUNDED: Established in 1836 as the “Royal School of Arts” and functioned as a public school for technical training. It quickly became known as the Polytechnic University. In 1887, it was promoted to a Higher Education Institute (A.E.I. – Anotato Ekpaideftiko Idryma) for the studies of mechanical engineers, architects, engineering architects, etc.
The last fundamental reform to the organization and administration of the University came in 1917 with a special law that gave the Polytechnic it form today. The University consists of the Schools of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering – Electricians, Chemical Engineers, Topographical Engineers and Architectural Engineers – thereby annulling the School of Biomechanics.
SCHOOLS: Applied Mathematics and Physical Sciences, Engineering Engineers, Shipyard Engineering Engineers, Chemical Engineers, Electrical Engineering, Political Engineering, Topographical Engineering and Architectural Engineering.
