Aquapolis Athens

Aquapolis Athens

The ultra-modern "Aquapolis" Athens waterpark opened its doors to the public on July 20th, 2020, in the area of Spata (about 20 kilometers from the center of Athens), directly next to the Attica Zoo.

The most epic of its kind in Greece, it has received glowing reviews since its very start. The whole family is assured fun - from the youngest children to teens to parents.

Aquapolis is considered the largest waterpark design in the country, not in size, but in the number of slides. There are a total of 17 different slides, divided into 2 zones: a family-adventure area and a speed-adrenaline area. There are water trails for everyone and all tastes regarding risk. Suitable for ages ranging from 6 months to 80 years old.

After 20 consecutive years of successful operation of the Attica Zoological Park, which was an investment of 8 million Euros and has hosted more than 5 million visitors since its inception. Now Attiko Theme Park S.A., which manages the Zoo, is developing a comprehensive project to create a complete supra-local construction in the area of Spata.

"We want to make the area a major regional attraction pole for the citizens of the country but also for tourists, especially those who have families with small children," said the founder of the Attica Zoological Park, Jean-Jacques Lesouer, on the occasion of the new investments that will be executed by Attiko Theme Park S.A. and will reach 13.5 million Euros.

The implementation of the property plan began with the waterpark model, "Aquapolis", separate in its design and certified for its safety, which opened its gates in 2020. In collaboration with Polin Waterparks, world market leader of waterparks with slides, the grant of 3.5 million Euros consists of 17 water slides (thematically referring to animals), a restaurant, a cafe, and shops, on a plot of 14 acres with the ability to entertain 150,000 visitors worldwide on an annual basis.

In the second phase, a hotel will be created, where hundreds of butterflies will live in its lobby, comprising the first butterfly boutique hotel, while the investment program will be completed at the end of 2022, with the creation of a prototype aquarium, "Oceanopolis".

Considered one of the most exciting experiences in the city of Athens, Aquapolis is undoubtedly the ultimate summer hangout. The structure includes the "extreme" King Cobra Slide, Aquatower, Blackhole & Rafting Slide combination, Mini Magicone, Multislide, Tunnel Freefall, Aquatube & Free Fall combination, dozens of other water games, and the Beach with its large relaxing pool. The little ones can have fun with mini-slides adapted to their age, water fountains, and parasols, and of course splash around in the pools. For parents, all around the pools, there are relaxation areas with synthetic grass, deckchairs, and umbrellas available.

Different signs around the water areas clearly explain the characteristics of each slide: level of difficulty (easy/medium/difficult), height or minimum weight required, positions allowed to go down the slide, water depth at the finish, etc. Some slides function inclosed in the dark with interior lighting effects - gives the impression of being in another space and time. They have been specified so no unfortunate surprises or unnecessary scares will ensue. There are plenty of lifeguards and the staff is present and supervises efficiently. For the slides in the adrenaline zone, there is always one or more people watching each slide, giving the start signal, reminding people of the safety instructions. In short, there is no risk of injury as it is well supervised.

The goal of the organizers is to offer guests a great experience in a welcoming, safe and comfortable environment. This summer, all the roads lead to Spata for endless liquified fun that should not be missed!
