SUPER MARKETS

Visitors to Athens probably do not have supermarkets high on their list of priorities of places to frequent.

But, whether you are a foreigner living here or just passing through, it would behoove us to make a short list of some more centrally located supermarkets, where you can stock up for a party or perhaps find that one article that you just can’t live without while here in Athens.

Mini markets can be found on almost every other street in Athens and where you won’t find one of them, you will find a kiosk.

These providers of the ever important beer, gum, cigarettes, newspapers, magazines, potato chips and even light bulbs can be amusing for a tourist to visit because of the unlikely things you might find in them (like surprise bags of toys for kids).

Many of you who have fallen in love with the Greek traditional liqueur, ouzo, will find it in unlimited supply in any mini market in the city.
