In Greece, there is over 15,000 km of coastline. The hundreds of sandy beaches and the year-round sunshine provide the perfect setting for the sport of beach volley, making the increasingly popular activity accessible to everyone and introducing it to the younger generation.

The first beach volley tournaments and competitions took place in the 1980's in Athens and were organized by players who wanted to maintain their physical condition and stamina during the summer months. Since then, the Olympic Games sport gained a lot of support in Athens with many professional beach volley tournaments taking place at various seaside locations. For those who wish to learn the rules and techniques of the game, there are good quality sand courts and professional coaches to introduce you to the sport.
