The Sanctuary of Apollo (Aegina Island)

The Sanctuary of Apollo (Aegina Island)

The last remaining monument from the 6th Century B.C. It is placed in a very short distance from the harbor of Aegina and it has taken its name after a standing Doric type column (Kolona).

In the ancient city, Mount Kolonas is a religious center on Aegina island. Many archaeological pieces of research show the presence of numerous historical buildings dated from the Neolithic area to the Mycenaean Period. In front of the museum, there is an archaeological site that bears the same name.
