Pandrossou Street

Pandrossou Street

The Pandrossou Street is a commercial street of Monastiraki, littered with small shops. It is paved and connects the Athens Metropolitan Cathedral to Tzistarakis Mosque in Monastiraki.

The Pandrossou Street shops are physically attached to each other in a colorful row. All the folk art items of interest to tourists are hanging outside, polite shopkeepers and a beautiful view of the Acropolis hill compose a picture that justifies comparing it to a painted canvas.

In 2012, Pandrossou Street was included in a road display network with the support of the Small Business Institute of the General Confederation of Professionals, Craftsmen and Merchants (GSEVEE).

Notably, on the portico of Pandrossou were the "ampatzidika", small laboratories that processed fabrics during the old Athenian era.

Especially recommended is a visit to the Stoa (Pandrossou 36) where one of the oldest cafes in town - "I Orea Ellas" - is located on the first floor.  It  serves coffee, ouzo and a tasty variety of  food platters on its marble tables. For the romantics and nostalgics of the aged yet grandiose Greece, this is the ideal place. You will see the Acropolis and shoppers passing by through the large window panes looking onto the street.
