Robin McKelle has built her long career by exploring diverse American music. With her Ella Fitzerald tribute album, "Impressions of Ella", she returns to her jazz roots! Robin McKelle returns to the Gazarte Athens for an evening dedicated to the iconic Ella Fitzerald.

"Impressions of Ella," set for release in June 2023, finds McKelle more mature than ever on all levels. 15 years after her first album, she feels ready to tackle the emotional weight behind the great jazz standards founded by Ella Fitzerald.

"My voice has matured and I felt like I reached a stage in my life where I could identify with the lyrics and I could sing these stories with my soul because I had lived them. So I knew that the time had come and I was ready to return to this music and this repertoire."

To flesh out this challenging project McKelle teamed up with the extremely talented trio of Kenny Washington on drums, Peter Washington on bass and NEA Jazz Master, Kenny Barron on piano.

Featuring a selection from Ella Fitzerald's extensive playlist, 'Impressions of Ella' includes duets with The Oscar Peterson Trio. Yet it is much more than a tribute album. Robin McKelle chooses to give more weight to the meticulous compositions and the intense musicality of the arrangements, giving a new perspective to the timeless style of Ella Fitzerald's songs.

On March 24, Robin McKelle takes to the Main Stage of the Gazarte for an unforgettable evening.
