The historic BAUHAUS Church of the Evangelical Church of Athens in Kolonaki hosts for the second year an institution that began during the pandemic in the form of online concerts.
With the kind initiative of the Board of Directors of the Church, and especially its President, Mr. Silke Weißker-Vorgias, in collaboration with the Cantor of the Church and Artistic Director of the circle, Mr. Christos Paraskevopoulos, concerts of eminent people are held and offered to the Athenian public soloist in partnership with the string orchestra De Profundis Ensemble.
"Afternoon Music" (ABENDMUSIK) is a series of concerts first started in the 17th century in the church of St. Mary (Marienkirche) in Lübeck, Germany, by Dieterich Buxtehude (1637 – 1707). The concerts were held on Sunday afternoons and admission was free. The Evangelical Church of Athens revives this institution, while becoming the first Church in Greece with an in-Residence orchestra.
The leading soloists will perform rare works of the Baroque repertoire, guiding the De Profundis Ensemble and the audience on a journey of an undiscovered era.
