On Tuesday 2 April, World Autism Awareness Day, the Vassilis & Elizas Goulandris Foundation from 13.00 to 17.00 opens the doors of its permanent collection free of charge to people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a companion, giving them the opportunity to get to know the Collection in specially configured browsing conditions.

Knowing that crowded and unfamiliar spaces, as well as places with rich multisensory stimuli, can be a challenge for autistic people and people with sensory processing disorder, the B&E Goulandris Foundation in collaboration with the non-profit organization The Happy Act and with the valuable support of Eurobank, has completed a specially designed accessibility program for neurodifferent people (people with autism and people with sensory processing disorder) which includes: Special on-site signage, Sensory Accessibility Map, social story, provision of sensory kits, and of course the appropriate special training of the Museum staff.

With the aim that the visit to the Museum can be a unique experience for everyone, the B&E Goulandris Foundation, with a focus on inclusion, has ensured that on Tuesday, April 2 – a day when the Museum is normally closed – people with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their companions they will be able to tour and be guided through the spaces of its permanent Collection in calm conditions, with as few multi-sensory stimuli as possible.
