The Zoumboulaki Gallery presents the solo exhibition of Vasiliki Koukou, entitled "Where flowers are singing" curated by Aggeliki Bara.

An installation will be set up in the gallery where paintings, textile creatures and flowers will co-exist.
"Images of creatures, plants, magic potions, totems and unidentified figures taken from the realm of illusion, mythology and fairy tales, spill into the space. In Kouko's work, the poetic rhythms of colors interact with childlike spontaneity, bringing multiple narratives to life. clear or complex mixed with personal experiences.The artist conveys personal thoughts and warm memories through agile, airy and elastic forms guided by colored resonances of sensations.
Cuckoo's practice is based on extending the magical world of art into everyday life, but also vice versa. Hybrid painting compositions of multiple dimensions and materials orchestrate a stylistic dialogue between color and gesture. Through an ecofeminist approach, Kuku presents a world where existence is indestructible, interpreting life through the stages of nature's self-creation. The timeless symbols of Cuckoo's painting star as the main pillars of the orderly functioning of a universe, without distinctions or hierarchies, where cooperation prevails over individual action.
Real plants, from Polyamorous, interact with hyperrealistic flowers, roots, ceramic filters and 3D fabric creatures, transforming the gallery space into a colorful oasis."

Brief Biography:
Vasiliki Koukou (b. 1996) graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts (BA & Integrated Master, Painting). In 2019 he was awarded the Rosa's Luxemburg Foundation Award, in Greece and Berlin and in 2020 he won the second prize "Gre-Taste: The taste of Greece" from the Vassilis and Marina Theocharakis Visual Arts and Music Foundation. In 2017 he was a performer for Documenta 14 and in 2020 he curated and performed "A Metamorphosis performance?" for the project Performance Rooms Kappatos, St. George Lycabettus Hotel. Her works have been displayed in museums and institutions such as the Michalis Kakogianni Foundation, War Museum, Byzantine Museum and others. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions. In her work she uses abstraction and surreal representation to invoke a sense of the mythical and magical. He lives and works in Athens.
