Shopping in Plaka

The Plaka area is a favorite spot for walking, shopping and entertainment, both for tourists and Greeks. Plaka owes its name to a large stone slab found in the Church of Saint George of Alexandria, next to the ancient Dionysus Theater.

In Plaka, people wander and admire the sights relaxed and happy, some go shopping and others with a souvlaki skewer on hand just stroll. All streets and the surrounding area are tightly packed with small shops.

Hung everywhere traditional goods, souvenirs, items of Greek folk art, mainly souvenir shops, Greek art, icons, furriers, and jewelers. The main shopping streets of Plaka are Adrianou Street and Vyronos Street.
